HOKKAIDO UNIVERSITY【Self-supported International Students(Undergraduate Courses)】

All users of the Learning and Education Application Service (hereinafter referred to as "this service") agree to the method of handling and purpose of use of personal information by Career-tasu, Inc., the operator of this service.

1. Definition of "Personal Information"

"Personal information" shall refer to information pertaining to an individual user and comprise the user’s name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, name of current school, name of alma mater, date of birth, and other entries that are capable of being used to identify the individual in question (including information that alone is not sufficient to identify the individual but can be used with other information to easily distinguish the said individual).

2. Management and Use of Personal Information

(1) Party responsible for the management of personal information

Career-tasu, Inc. shall be responsible for all personal information and manage such information internally.

(2) Use of personal information

Career-tasu shall use registered personal information only for the purposes listed below and shall not use that information for any other purpose.

1. To provide personal information to universities, junior colleges, graduate schools, and other educational institutions as well as qualification/certification organizations utilizing this service to receive applications

2. To keep a database of personal information so that the time and effort needed to input the same information the next time this service is used may be eliminated

(3) Provision of personal information to universities, junior colleges, graduate schools, other educational institutions, and qualification/certification organizations

Registered personal information shall be supplied to universities, junior colleges, graduate schools, and other educational institutions as well as qualification/certification organizations utilizing this service to receive applications. The categories of personal information to be so supplied are as follows.

- Name
- Zip code
- Address
- Telephone Number
- Date of birth
- Gender
- E-mail address
- Details of applications to universities, junior colleges, graduate schools, other educational institutions, or qualification/certification organizations

The personal information provided to universities, junior colleges, graduate schools, other educational institutions, and qualification/certification organizations shall be managed by the respective universities, junior colleges, graduate schools, other educational institutions, and qualification/certification organizations for the purpose of receiving applications, correspondence, and other communications pertaining to the supply of information concerning universities, junior colleges, graduate schools, other educational institutions, and qualification/certification organizations. With regard to details of the management of personal information by individual universities, junior colleges, graduate schools, other educational institutions, and qualification/certification organizations, it is requested that inquiries be placed directly to the individual universities, junior colleges, graduate schools, other educational institutions, and individual qualification/certification organizations. The universities, junior colleges, graduate schools, and other educational institutions as well as the qualification/certification organizations utilizing this service to receive applications are banned from using personal information obtained through the use of this service for purposes other than the provision of information pertaining to the universities, junior colleges, graduate schools, other educational institutions, and qualification/certification organizations.

(4) How we use your credit card information

We value your trust, and make it a high priority to ensure the security and confidentiality of the personal and credit card information (cardholder’s name, credit card number, expiration date) you provide to us.

・Purpose of use : In order to complete the payment for the services conducted.
・Information Receiver: Career-tasu, Inc.
・Information Suppliers: Credit card company or third-party vendors who provide services or functions on behalf, including credit card processing.
・Retention period: We will not store the credit card information after providing those to credit card company or third party vendors.

(5) In the interest of improving user convenience, partial consignment shall be made concerning the handling of personal information to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes of this service.

3. Failure to Supply Personal Information

If required items are not entered in applications for specific qualifications or certification through this service, there may be cases when certain services cannot be utilized.

4. Disclosure of Personal Information to a Third Party without Consent

As a general rule, registered personal information shall not be disclosed to a third party without the consent of the user in question. Personal information shall be disclosed to a third party, i.e., other than universities, junior colleges, graduate schools, other educational institutions, or qualification/certification organizations, only after specifying the party to which the information is to be disclosed and the contents of the said information and obtaining the consent of the user. In any of the following cases, however, there may be instances in which registered contents shall be disclosed without the consent of the user.

(1) Cases based on laws

(2) Cases in which the need exists to protect human lives, physical conditions, or property and there is difficulty obtaining the consent of the person in question

(3) Cases in which a particular need exists to improve public health or promote the sound development of young children and there is difficulty obtaining the consent of the person in question

(4) Cases in which the need exists to cooperate with national government agencies, regional public entities, or parties under consignment from such agencies or entities to fulfill duties determined under the law and there is the threat that obtaining the consent of the party in question may impede the fulfillment of said duties

5. Sphere of Third Parties

In cases corresponding to either of the following numbered items, the party receiving personal information in question shall not be considered a third party with regard to the application of the stipulations in this article.

(1) Cases of full or partial consignment of the handling of personal information within the extent necessary for Career-tasu to achieve its objectives

(2) Cases of transfer of personal information accompanying the transfer of business operations due to a merger of Career-tasu and other companies or other circumstances

6. Exemption from Liability

In cases corresponding to either of the following numbered items, Career-tasu shall assume no responsibility whatsoever with regard to the acquisition of personal information by a third party.

(1) Cases in which the user personally utilizes the functions of this service or a separate means to disclose personal information to specified corporate entities

(2) Cases in which the party in question is unexpectedly identified through registered contents other than the information designating the said party

7. Statistics

Career-tasu will utilize the personal information supplied to make statistical data in formats that will maintain the privacy of individuals.

8. Personal Information Corrections, Record Deletion, Etc.

In cases where a user, for whatever reason, wishes to correct or delete personal information already registered or desires to express opinions or direct questions or requests for information pertaining to this service, it is requested that such requests, comments, or inquiries be directed to the following.
